Band formed 1970 by guitarist Phil Manzanera, bassist Bill MacCormick, drummer Charles Hayward and keyboardist Dave Jarrett. Early on an appreciated live band that also got to record a couple of demos for Warner Bros. But they were never signed and split 1971, whereafter Manzanera went to Roxy Music and Hayward to Gong. However 1974 when Manzanera was working on his solo album "Diamond Head" he invited his old band mates and recorded this album during the same sessions. It resulted in some of the tracks were used on the DH issue while others were picked for this. Parts were also used later in the 801 concerts, which included Bill MacCormick on bass https://monolover.blogspot.com/2017/12/801-live-2302-044-76-77-uk.html . Apart from the original 1970 band members this was also reinforced by Brian Eno on "Synthesizer, Treatments & Oblique Strategies". All cuts self penned. Listening to it is an adventure indeed. I'm getting an even blend of art music, pych and prog, sometimes in the same area as King Crimson, sometimes slightly reminding of the Fripp and Eno collaborations and sometime sounding like nothing else. There's lots of rhythmic gaming and tons of both evil and benevolent guitars. Not for the faint hearted, but highly recommended to strong confident music lovers. Full album below. Premiere UK on Island black label (HELP 19). Also issued on vinyl in Japan, Canada and France. UK 2011 CD on Expression Records (EXPCD 2R) came with five bonus tracks, including three of the original demos. First UK had label as shown here in a fully laminated cover. (ÄNÖ*) (YZÄ*)
