I've always been fascinated by Alma Cogan (1932-66) - her early carreer as the most popular and highest paid UK female singer on to being still highly regarded in Sweden and Germany though totally overlooked on home turf and later sad ending. For more on that check https://monolover.blogspot.com/2018/01/alma-cogan-pmes-535-65-mono-sweden.html . Been trying to find any of her earliest LP:s for a long time, but they just never show up in the bins here. This is as close as I've got so far - a compilation of cuts recorded 1957-61, all in original mono with top audio...so good enough for now. Listening today I reminisce the days when I sat glued to our valve radio in the fifties. Most of the songs are contemporary standards and they all come out very positive conveyed by top orchestral arrangement and occational background quires. And you can hear why she was called "the girl with the laugh in her voice", cause it sonds like she's smiling whlie singing. A kind of music that may be regarded as obsolete by many modern listeners, but I much rather listen to this than much of the digitized crap we're flooded with today. Exemples below. To my knowledge this UK vinyl was the only issue. It had label as shown here in a laminated flip/back cover with MFP ad inner. (FÄV*) (SXS*) (ÖLMÖ*)
