JOHN LENNON YOKO ONO/MILK AND HONEY POLH P5 (-84) UK PICTURE DISC

As the first posthumous Lennon release containing earlier unissued tracks, showing up four years after his death containing demos and early studio takes coupled with six more newly recorded by Ono, the scene was open for frowning and comments on horse-flogging. But it was actually rather well recieved by critics and had very heatlthy sales - reaching #3 in UK, #11 on Billboard and top ten on many other lists. And if you after all this time can forget about the partly poor recordings and just enjoy the songs it is a very nice album. "Nobody Told Me", "Grow Old With Me", "Stepping Out" and "Borrowed Time" are all good Lennon and I do like Ono's reggae psych "Sleepless Night" and the soft "Don't Be Scared". As it is showing on a worthy follow-up to "Double Fantasy", with the couple pursuing the more mature attitude and outcome that worked so well there. Favorite tracks "Nobody Told Me", "Grow Old With Me" and "Sleepless Night". Issued and reissued on every possible format all over the world through the years. US 2001 CD on Capitol (CDP 7243) came with four bonus tracks including Lennon's last interveiew. I don't know much about this UK picture version other than it's legit and it was a limited edition. The "ORLAKE" etched on both matrixes shows it was pressed at Orlake Records in Essex, a firm specializing in pictured, shaped and colored vinyl. I'm usually don't collect picture discs, but this has smashing audio and it's nice to have Lennon on UK, so it'll stay. More details on pictures below. (BÄ*) (JYZÖ*)
