MARY WELLS/MY GUY SRS 5040 (-70) UK

(For more background check post on the UK mono). Premiere release as "Greatest Hits" came on US Motown label 1964 in mono only (M 616), a year later remixed and issued as true stereo (S 616). Earliest UK surfaced 1966 in mono only with same name and tracking, but different sleeve design (Tamla Motown TML 11032). That remained the only British version till this showed up 1970 on EMI:s Starline budget label. It has the same tracking and front pic as the -66 issue, but renamed "My Guy" - with all certainty using the US 1965 stereo make. It's an excellent two-channel mix with strong audio, OK separation and fine balance providing very good listening. So for a Motown loving collector of UK pressings who wants both formats it's a must. An extended sixteen track was released by UK Tamla Motown 1983 (STMS 5093) and CD issues exist, but this is the stereo for me. First had label as shown here and laminated flip/back cover. (TÖMÖ*) (FÄV*) (SXS*) (MÄWY*)
