One of the pros with collecting samplers issued close to the fact back then is that you sometimes can get acts, tracks and/or edits only appearing with that particular release, or almost impossible to find elsewhere. Here's a good exemple. A Swedish cover sampler where different artists do versions of contemporary international hits. Three of the bands - Ola & The Janglers, The Violents and Lenne & The Lee Kings - had some domestic fame at the time, the rest more or less obscure, moreover only participating on some one-off 45('s)or not at all making this their only recording(s). I would like to get more facts on those artists, but even in these media swamped days when you can find info on about anything I see very little or nothing. For exemple - does anyone here have any interesting knowledge on Otto IV Jr, The Burksmen, Guy Bates, Lady Kate 6, Michael & The Playmates, The Sunspots or The Best? If so I'd like to know. All cuts are original mono takes and the audio is pristine. It seems they tried to keep each track close to the originals and musical quality maybe not all tophole, but a couple stands out. Ola & The Janglers "Satisfaction", which also appeared on their debute album, is raw enough. The Sunspots "My Generation" garage with lots of youthful energy. Otto IV Jr:s version of Beatles "Yesterday" simple and very well sung with heart on sleeve. My absolute favorite here is The Best "Get Off Of My Cloud", somewhere between rock and pop with a stubborn guitar riff all through making it fly. 1966 vinyl releases also in Italy (Jolly Hi-Fi Records LPJ 5056) and Spain (Discophon CS 2004). Swedish reel-to-reel(Phonoband C 6303)as "stereo", but no clue if that is true or fake. The cuts from Otto IV Jr, Lady Kate 6, Guy Bates and The Best further issued as parts of two jukebox EP:s (JSEP 5544/5545). To my knowledge never issued on CD.
