JETHRO TULL/ "A" CHE 1301 (-80) CANADA

If I'm saying this isn't one of my favorite Jethro Tull albums it don't mean much in the grand scheme of things. Still one of the better LP:s issued 1980, shadowed only by Bowies "Scary Monsters" and maybe one or two more I can't remember right now. Initially intended as an Ian Anderson solo album, but Chrysalis wanted it credited to the band. The former "Stormwatch" was and remains a killer in my world and though this doesn't reach up to that 100% it still has enough good moments to keep me happy. "Crossfire" and "4 W Drive (Ratio)" both very catchy, "Fylingdale Flyer" driven by rythmic gaming pushing it toward the listener. "And Further On" a calm, yet adventurous, ballad. More electronics than before, but the synths are not all in yet and the part folky songwriting provides an ok balance...and you get loads of sterling Martin Barre guitars and the expected ingenious flutes from Anderson. So a lot more than just the band filler I know some keep it as today. Well worth spinning and enjoying by itself. Issued and reissued on every possible format through the years. Premiere UK on Chrysalis (CDL 1301). Japan 2004 CD in paper sleeve and obi came with the "Slipstream" DVD video as bonus. First Canadian had label as shown here in a glossy cover with picture/lyric inner. (YZÄ*) (YÖHT*)
