THE TREMELOES/HERE COME THE TREMELOES SBPG 63017 (-67) UK STEREO
The band's first album without Brian Poole after he left for a solo carreer 1966. For background check post on their 1963 "Twist And Shout" album. Though with years apart with different settings in a then rapidly changing zeitgeist these two LP.s actually have a lot in common. It's the same kind of let-go atmosphere giving the impression of direct recordings done with a big smile. Not certain if that was the case here, but the ambience sure brings a positive mood. Two of the cuts - "What A State I'm In" and "Shake Hands" - come a little rougher with surprisingly raw psych guitars while most of the rest is happy enough. Those two may be favorites here, but the UK #4 singles "Here Comes My Baby" and "Even The The Bad Times Are Good" also make my old heart beat a little faster. The stereo mix on this UK press sounds partly monoish, but with enough two-channel effects to make it true. And I do get the message ok, so it's fine by me. Issued and reissued on vinyl and CD all over the world through the years, also 8-track and cassette. First US and Canadian (Epic LN 24310/BN 26310) came as a ten track in different sleeve design, omitting "Round And Round" and "Let Your Hair Hang Down". EU 1990 CD on Castle Legends came with same tracking as UK. Premiere UK had label as shown here in a laminated cover with CBS ad inner.
