WHITE CHRISTMAS/SOUNDTRACK BKL 8044 (-54)

Christmas is getting closer and this classic film once again topical. The record doesn't have the exact original soundtrack though. Rosemary Clooney had a contract with Columbia at the time and wasn't allowed in on Bing Crosby's Decca. Instead Peggy Lee, not in the movie, was brought in to do her parts. Still it has a lot to put you in the right spirit. Classic songs, top artists and perfect backing. Audio reminds a lot of 78 rpm:s, warm and cozy, with vinyl quality beyond compare - very thick and heavy. Cover is thin matt with "crescent" flips and colored b/w pics. Labels are of the first UK Decca twelve inch type in dark red with gold fonts, wich was dropped around the mid-fifties together with the BKL prefix system. To me this is a feast for all senses. Not only the music, but the feel of the heavy record, the old style cover and the beautiful label. First release on US Decca (DL 8083). Also reissued on UK Brunswick (LAT 8044) and MCA (MCL 1777). (FÄV*)(NYFÖ*)(CXÅ*) (ZÖNT*) (BCJ*)
