DUKE ELLINGTON'S GREATEST DLP 1007 (-50) UK

One more of those early LP:s I like so much. I can't seem to find any info how it was made, or on corresponding US issues. Following the clue Joya Sherrill sings on three of the tracks it has to be a transference of older 78 rpm cuts, since she previous to this only worked with Ellington early in the forties and then didn't return until the late fifties. That's also what you get from the audio - very collected with a warm glow. Apart from good listening it's also a feast for other senses. I love the feeling of the heavy unflexible vinyl and watching the beautiful early type custom sleeve and the old design ridged dog label. The size, weight, audio and designs are as close to a 78 rpm you can get, but it is a 33 rpm LP playable on all modern grammophones. That's living history. (NYFÖ*)(CLÄZ*)
