THE SUPER HITS/VOL 3 ATL-SD 8203 (-68) GERMANY
German version of a US Atlantic sampler, also issued in Canada and downunder. Special with this variation is the Cream cut "Sunshine Of Your Love" was omitted and replaced by Aretha Franklin "See Saw". I got no problem with that - a period Atlantic soul sampler just can't have too much of her. And this is all good soul/funk pop by some of the best from the scene back then. Maybe Vanilla Fudge doesn't fit in that well, but the rest is just dandy. Arthur Conley, Percy Sledge, Booker-T, Archie Bell, Wilson Pickett, Sam & Dave and The Rascals. What A Gang. My favorite track would be Percy Sledge's "Take Time To Know Her". You pity him for not listening to mama, but at the same time feel with the guy all the way to the bitter end. Good story - sad song. Anyway the audio is tophole all through - warm and embracing - providing good listening either you're in the chair or need a loving background to dull chores. So - if you're into sixties soul and funk and agree samplers can be a both simpler and cheaper way to get the real thing this comes highly recommended. Premiere German had label as shown here and fully laminated cover. (SÄM*) (GÖXÄ*) (ÄTHP*)
