FERLIN HUSKY - SONNY JAMES - TOMMY SANDS - GENE VINCENT/ TEEN-AGE ROCK ! T 1009 (-58) US MONO

Elvis wasn't the only white guy trying out the then fairly new rock genre from the mid-fifties and on. Other, in some cases already experienced, artists caught on with very good result. This sampler is an exemple of that, offering many tasty bits form the golden age of rock'n'roll. The newest here would be Gene Vincent, who got an early breakthrough with "Be-Bop-A-Lula" 1956, while the others had been on it since early fifties - Ferlin Husky and Sonny James as country music singers and Tommy Sands doing plain pop. All of them gone now, except Tommy Sands, who still struggle on aged 81. My favorites are the tracks I remember from my kid years in front of the radio when all this was new and exciting and then especially the Gene Vincent ones - "Be-Bop-A-Lula", "Lotta Lovin" and "Dance To The Bop". But there's no need to jump tracks here for the lover of classic rock. All are good period cuts and the audio lovely with a warm atmosphere, fitting both for fifties parties and us old folks reminiscing. Fifties issues also in UK, Canada, Italy and a couple of other countries - all Capitol with same number. Premiere US had label as shown here and glossy cover. (YZÄ*) (ÖXCÅ*) (FÖGÄ*) (SÄM*)
