SOUL PARTY 236 213 (-68) UK MONO
For the collcetor of sixties soul who wants it close to the fact on vinyl, but not prepared to pay a fortune, this could be a very valuable addition. Apart from Edwin Starr's "Headline News", a pick from the 1968 Gordy LP "Soul Master", and The Ikettes "Don't Feel Sorry For Me" from the Modern Records album "Soul The Hits", all on this record was 45 only at time for release and some remain very rare. You get A+B sides of Soulrunners 1966 "Grits And Cornbread"/ "Spreading Honey", Donny Elbert 1968 "In Between The Heartaches"/"Too Far Gone" and Jimi Hendrix 1966 "Hey Joe"/"Stone Free". Further Waygood Ellis one-off single "I Like What I'm Trying To Do" and oddities from acts as Jamo Thomas And His Party Brothers Orchestra and Suzy & Big Dee Irwin. Amboy Dukes doing a cover of "Judy In Disguise" is not the Ted Nurgent outfit, but a UK soul band who just issued a couple of singles. And don't be fooled by the the "stereo" label. This is mono all through. A couple of the tracks may come out brighter and wider than on the originals, yet there are no two-channel effects and no fake stereo. Audio shifts a little between tracks, but most come out tophole and non bad. To my knowledge this was UK only and never reissued in any format. It came with label as shown here in a laminated cover.
