DZYAN/TIME MACHINE BLPS 19161Q (-74) GERMANY

Common band name for a studio project existing 1972-74, including an ever changing cast of session musicians. During that time they recorded three albums with various settings, all in slightly separate musical directions. First eponymopus as kraut prog rock with some inspiration from Zappa and King Crimson and third - "Electric Silence" - blending experimental prog with Asian folk music. This second all instrumental has a little of both the surrounding, but mostly appearing as equibrilistic hard core prog and reminding of Mahavishu's wildest moments. If you're going for jazz/rock ventures, partly free form, performed by experts and crowned by some of the fastest guitars at the time - look no further. I admire it a lot, still can't connect 100%. The Zappaesque guitars in "Magika" and the borderlinde hard rock ending of the eighteen minute title track brings me a little closer, but not all the way in. Spanish 1975 quad issue on CFE/Bacillus (YD-99005). Re-issued on Long Hair label as regular stereo vinyl 2010 (LHC 91) and CD 2014 (LHC 142). Premiere German quad had label as shown here and thin cover with a two layer lamination - the outer matt, the inner glossy. (GÖXÄ*)
