BRYAN FERRY/IN YOUR MIND 2302 055 (-77) UK

After three solo LP:s mostly filled with covers, this fourth had all self-penned songs. And when played by a crew including musicians as Phil Manzanera, Chris Spedding, Paul Thompson and John Wetton it could as well been tagged as a Roxy Music album and a good one too. Presented as band effort half way between the 1975 "Siren" and 1979 "Manifesto" would probably have lead to even better reception and sales, though I guess he had his reasons for wanting to be regarded as detached. But however you bill it remains as an all over high quality album. Songs very well written, arrangements and production (co-made by Ferry and Steve Nye) flawless and the audio superduper, his signature vocals are there and all cuts have more or less catchy parts. My favorites - the emotional title track, "This Is Tomorrow", "One Kiss" and "Rock Of Ages". Getting back to billing - listening now I do hear a Roxy Music album, a worthy follow-up to "Siren" and to my taste better than the succeeding "Manifesto". Just so you know. Issued and reissued all over the world on all possible formats through the years. First US and Canadian on Atlantic (SD 18216). Premiere UK had label as shown here, fully laminated cover and lyric/picture inner. (ÄNÖ*) (BRÄY*)
