TAKE A GIRL LIKE YOU NSPL 18353 (-70) UK

Soundtrack to one of many romantic comedies with hinted sexual content premiered at the time, soon forgotten by all except die-hard cineasts and movie buffs. Though I seldom saw any of those films or know anything about them I always check the soundtrack records when they show up, trying to find odd or one-off cuts. This has some of that. Five instrumentals by film music composer Stanly Myers and five with vocals from three different acts - The Foundations, The Harmony Grass and Ram John Holder. Foundation's "Take A Girl Like You" was also released as a UK singel, while this seems to be the only place for shortlived British band Harmony Grass "It Takes A Lot Of Loving" and the three contributions from Guyanese born actor/singer Ram John Holder. All those five positive period pop - the Foundation one kind of catchy, the rest listenable without being special. Myers' instrumentals are of a more timeless quality. E.g. "Organ Fantasia In D Minor" a slow bluesy number with prominent organ over drum/bass and fuzz guitars. "Another Love" dreamy bossa with flute and quires and "Blue" lounge jazzy with flute and soft strings. As a whole maybe not the most exciting soundtrack I've heard so far, though with enough odd stuff and quality to make it a keeper. Also released on vinyl in South Africa (PYC 2441), but to my knowledge never reissued in any form. First (only?) UK had label as shown here and thin matt cover. (ZÖNT*)(PÖY*)
