I'm not going into his early history or later disgrace here - this is just about the years 1972-75. Back in those days he was the king of English glam rock with eleven '45:s reaching top ten in UK including three #1. Most of them charting high all over the world, except US where he only had one one top ten and one at #35. This is a "greatest hits" that really lives up to it's name - twelve '45 A-sides up to date with an interesting choice of mixes. His albums were stereo, but some of the single releases got separate mixes and edits in mono and stereo. A few US promo singles had both, but some other countries issued mono only. Four of the cuts here are the mono versions and the rest original stereo edits. All tracks but one written by him and producer Mike Leander. The memories I have from these songs are connected to discoteques, sing-alongs and barrels of beer - related to social situations, but nothing I brought home or dug by myself. Some of it may sound dated today, but if you were there and want something to remember it by - this is one of the better with great audio.
