DONOVAN/SUNSHINE SUPERMAN LN 24.217 (-66) MONO FRANCE

The US and UK issues of this album only had the title and a couple of tracks in common. As already proud owner of the US and UK maybe I shouldn't need it, but as it's contained in a laminated flip-back cover with an exclusive insert and stunning audio I couldn't resist. The insert has comments to all songs written in French, so it may be of slightly lesser value if you're not familiar with the language, but as part of the original domestic issue it must be there. Audio is very similar to the US just a bit clearer. In my book the album itself - regardless of origin or format - is an early hippie classic with the exact right blend of baroque pop and psych to make it at the same time both adventurous and embracing. And this has good listening all through...just like the aforementioned two. Perhaps I'll find even more variations eventually and if I do you'll be the first to know. (TÖW*) (CPYC*) (SISÖ*) (MFÄX*)
