FLEETWOOD MAC/BLUES JAM AT CHESS 7-662 27 (-69) UK PROMO

Not sure about the caption here since there are so many blues giants participating, but you could see it as a band effort with tophole reinforcement and that's what I choosed to do. Peter Green does lead vocals on five of the tracks, Jeremy Spencer on five, Danny Kirwan on three, Shakey Horton and Otis Spann on two each, J.T. Brown on one and the rest instrumental (for more see track list below). Recorded in a day or so at Chess studios in Chicago, Jan 1969. To me this is close to heaven. I get one of my favourite UK white blues bands supported by some of their US idols, direct live in the studio with most of the control room comments uncut and even obvious slips still in. I hear takes that in most other cases would have been remixed and treated with some limiting device, but here it sounds like they just let it be as it was. Genuine and thus perfect. Also this UK press offers fantastic audio most of the time, giving a true being-there feeling. Almost impossible to pick favorite tracks, but since I'm a big fan of Peter Green it'll be where he's in the lead - especially "Last Night" and "Watch Out". Originally released like this in Europe while the US and most other issues came as "Fleetwood Mac In Chicago" with different sleeve designs. Also on US 2xCassette and 2x8-track. Japan 2005 2xCD in paper sleeve and obi came with alternate takes as bonus tracks. Premiere UK had label as shown here in a glossy fold/out cover. Don't know anything about UK Blue Horizon/CBS promo policy att the time or how they were usually marked, but as this copy has a couple of stamps on rear sleeve saying "Promotional copy not for re-sale" I treat it as such.
