THE CHRIS FARLOWE BAND LIVE 2460250 (-75) UK

His first solo live after almost fifteen years in the business. Vocals are some of the best I've heard from any UK male singer and the expertise backing (see pics below) is tight and bursting with feeling. Audio is clear and natural and...I could go on, but can't find anything wrong with it except maybe the brown cover is a little dull and doesn't do the content justice. Fans of his earlier Immediate stuff will find this an upgrade. Back then he didn't always get the backing and arrangements the voice craved which led to a kind of vocal captivity. It was first as a lead singer with Colosseum 1970-71 the talent was set free and his achievement on the 1971 "Colosseum Live" still stands unchallanged. The final product here can't compete with that, but you get some of the same vocal figures and outbursts and the same mix between heartfelt and good humor. Colosseum's music was woven by equal parts, with vocals as one of the instruments, so tight every song became like a separate living organism. Here it's more vocalist with support. The music is less jazzy in a soul rock mood and backing appropriate rather than challenging, but never dull. In all very nice listening with lots of emotion and highly recommended to any live album lover. Contemporary issues in Germany, France and Italy. Don't know of any US vinyl release. 1997 CD re-issue with bonus track on Out Of Time (CDEC 7). First UK had label as shown here and matt cover. (MÖRS*) (LYBÖ*)
