DAG VAG/SCENBUDDISM SRS 4660 (-79) SWEDEN

For background check post on their eponymous debute. When this live album (eng. "Stage Buddhism") was released just eight months later guitarist Ola Backström had left and been replaced by Kenny Håkansson (earlier in Baby Grandmothers, Mecki Mark Men and Kebnekaise), here under alias "Beno Zeno". Still much in the punkish reggae/ska style and well played as such, but to my ears now totally owned by Håkansson and his guitar - apart from long meaty solos also providing rythmic backing and filling to the numbers. The pace from bass and drums grabs, the songs are strangely catchy and Stig Vig's talk-singing comes out personal and friendly, but for me it's the guitars that sign the deal. Audio is stunning for a live album - loud, close and perfectly clear. Even if sung in Swedish some of the lyrics are so sparse they hardly matter. Translating my favorite track "Dimma" ("Fog") it would be...First verse - Travelling through the night. Fog around me (repeat)...Second verse - Hovering in the night. It's the fog in me (repeat). That's it. It's well worth a listen whatever you speak. https://youtu.be/dZScGiNmTdw . Only released in Sweden. 2008 CD on Ball (BASCD 4803) came with four bonus tracks. Premiere vinyl had label as shown here and structured cover with plain black inner. (SCÄ*) (CCÖ*) NÅY*) (LYBÖ*)
