YOU CAN ALL JOIN IN IWPS -2 (-69) UK
Another five star compilation. Already at release it was outstanding because of the high quality cuts and top audio. Today even more special since many of the tracks comes from albums very hard to find or afford in original shape - by Art, Tramline, Clouds, Nirvana, Fairport Convention and Spooky Tooth. No need to jump tracks on this one - it's all good. With exception of Jethro Tull "Song For Jeffrey" having an alternate mix and Art's cover of "What's That Sound" being stereo here, it's the album versions. And I really love the front cover pic. As the story goes it's taken in Hyde Park after a wet party, showing the labels entire cast. A crowd of twentynine, cosisting of Ian Anderson, Stevie Winwood, Sandy Denny, Paul Rogers and Ashley Hutchings among others. Even if I didn't like the music it's a keeper just for that. Favorite track - Art's version of "What's That Sound", a lot better than the original. Re-issued on CD 1992 together with the follow-up "Nice Enough To Eat" as "Nice Enough To Join In" (Island IMCD 150). First press had label as shown here, thick unflexible vinyl and laminated cover. Got me a copy of this one, after seeing your post. Hmmm, the mix of Jeffrey's Song is really weird, with most everything in the center and left channel (only guitar on the right). The Art track appears in fake stereo.
SvaraRaderaHere's a breakdown of who is who. Three heads (incl. Richard Thompson's) were cropped off the sleeve of the orig. UK, but can be seen on the original Dutch issue.

SvaraRaderaI should have mentioned Art album was mono only and even the much later re-presses only appeared as such - I've had both first on "eye" and later on pink rim using the same tapes. So of course it's a fake, but You have to agree this one sounds OK.
