BRIAN ENO/MUSIC FOR FILMS EGED 5 (-78) UK

First album released as "Music For Films" was a 1976 twentyseven track promo limited to 500 copies. Apart from the name the stock issue doesn't have a lot in common. The promo had cuts from previous albums as "Another Green World" and "Evening Star", while this instead has previsouly unreleased numbers from those recordings. Only six of the eighteen tracks here coincides with the promo, the rest are either new compositions or leftovers from earlier sessions. So in a way it's a compilation of unreleased tracks, mainly connected to the three mentioned albums - "Music For Films" promo, "Another Green World" and Evening Star". I like Eno this way. He's experimenting and trying out new stuff, but at the same time it's accessible, melodic and soothing. To my taste some of his other work gets too mechanical and hung up on machines, this is still good music. The guesting musicians differ from track to track, depending on what sessions they're from. A few of the names involved - Robert Fripp, John Cale, Phil Collins and Percy Jones. Premiere UK stock release on Polydor and US on Antilles was withdrawn and both replaced with this "EG Edition", having same tracks and edits in different order. First UK EG issue had label as shown here and thick pressed paper sleeve. (ÄNÖ*)(FÖF*)
