THE BEST OF BACHARACH SFL 13193 (-68) UK MONO + STEREO

Very nice compilation with UK recordings of English or American artists doing Bacharach songs, made between 1961-68. Label say "Stereo", but the two by Dusty Springfield - the A-side "I Don't Know What To With Myself" and "The Look Of Love", originally B-side to UK single "Give Me Time" - are the '45 mono mixes. Two of the cuts are carefully made re-channels - Frankie Vaughan's A-side "The Tower Of Strength and Ronnie Carroll's A-side "A House Is Not A Home". The rest appears to be true stereo - at least to my ears (some original two-channel mixes were so discreetly done it's hard to distinguish) . In any case it all sounds good and gives the opportunity to have a number of odd '45 tracks for the first time on UK LP. Apart from the mentioned also Dee Dee Warwick's "Alfie", originally B-side to "Locked In Your Love", and Julie Rogers "The Love Of A Boy", B-side to her hit single "The Wedding". Albums named "The Best Of Bacharach" has been frequently re-issued through the years in different countries with various tracking and sleeve design. As far as I know this UK release on Fontana's "Special" budget label was the original. First had label as shown here and fully laminated cover. (SÄM*)(FÄV*)(FÖGÄ*) (TÖZ*)
