CREAM/I FEEL FREE 2499 002 (-70) GERMANY/SWEDEN

German compilation initially released domestically and in Sweden, later also in France and Australia. It combines eight cuts from German Fresh Cream with "Sunshine Of Your Love" and three not previously issued on album in Germany or England - "Wrapping Paper" and "Coffee Song" originally only appearing on the Swedish version of Fresh Cream (see separate post) and "I Feel Free" from the US issue of the album. I don't have the UK or German stereos anymore, but apart from "I'm So Glad" being mono here most coniciding tracks are pretty much as I remember - unbalanced and rather bad. For "I Feel Free" a UK stereo mix was prepared late 1966 and I guess that's the one used on this. "Coffee Song" and "Wrapping Paper" have the same mixes as the Swedish Fresh Cream - WP is mainly mono with some slight stereo effects and CS uses one that probably originally was meant for instructional purpose, with guitar only in one channel and the rest in the other. Luckily the whole thing is an OK compatible so you can play it with the mono button pushed. The original front sleeve pic of preparing a joint was censored on later issues - first with a glue-over and after about a year replaced by a totally different cover design. Shown here is the Swedish variation with label having "NCB" instead of "GEMA" and title in larger fonts. It came in a thin fully laminated cover. (CÄRÄ*) (GÖXÄ*)
