THE BEST OF HERMAN'S HERMITS VOL. III E 4505 (-68) US MONO
A Hermits fan to and from, but with so many almost identical band compilations issued all over the world through the years one have to choose, can't have them all. Passed many copies of this before I saw the one here in a cheap bin a while ago and thought - why not? Glad I did cause after a closer encounter it shows to be a very enjoyable HH LP. The fact that seven of the eleven cuts are from their two previous original albums isn't very exciting, but the remaining four are quite odd. "What is Wrong, What is Right" earlier B-side of the "East West" single. "Big Man"/"Wings Of Love" planned as a 45, test presses exist but it never had a stock release in US or UK. Finally "Mum & Dad" previously unissued. The compiling itself also makes it close to pop-psych, let be of the lighter kind but still more than just easy listening. Add to that all is true mono with top audio - wide and warm. For sure an LP I will spin again when in the mood for melodic and embracing with just enough quirks to keep me alert. Also issued as stereo in Canada on Quality Records (SV 1809), don't know of any other mono issues. Premiere US had ridged label as shown here and glossy cover. (HÄHX*) (YZÄ*) (ÖXCÅ*)
