FLEETWOOD MAC AND CHRISTINE PERFECT/ALBATROSS SCBS 31569 (-77) UK
Collection issued through CBS budget Embassy label. Though the Fleetwood Mac cuts by then had been compiled and reissued numerous times, the early connection between them and Christine Perfect and the fact that she married bassist John McVie and became an important cog in the reformed band's hit machinery, makes the artist coupling natural and maybe somewhat legit trying to cash in on the oldies again. This also gives a chance to get eight cuts from her only and for now rather rare 1970 solo album, recorded between her engagements in Chicken Shack and Fleetwood Mac. Among the picks are both a Danny Kirwan song - "When You Say" - and one that also was a hit for Chicken Shack - "I'd Rather Go Blind" - together in a way tying the band knots. Her numbers are a bit more towards soft soul than the FM ones, but with an adjacent atmosphere and quality. Good songs carrying original mixes with pleasing audio makes it more than just a necessity for completists. Could also work well for beginners and/or lovers of white blues in general who for some reason don't own all cuts already. Also released on Embassy (EMB 31569) for some other European countries and CBS (CBS 010) in New Zeeland. Premiere UK had label as shown here and thin laminated cover. (FXÄC*)
