SAVOY BROWN/LOOKING IN SKL 5066 (-70) UK

For background also check posts on their previous LP:s  https://monolover.blogspot.com/search?q=(S%C3%84VX*)  . Around the time this album was recorded a lot was going on with the band. After the release of "Raw Sienna" Chris Youlden and Bob Hall had left and this was made by the remaining four. It would be the last effort by the old gang - after the session Peverett, Earl and Stevens moved on to form Foghat    https://monolover.blogspot.com/2023/11/foghat-br-2027-72-us.html  , leaving Kim Simmonds alone with the group name. But this is still the old formula and familiar sound - raw boogie and tender blues, melodic with pushy backing and smashing guitars. Produced by Simmonds and arranged by the group it sounds like few overdubs was used and a lot done by ear. The audio is fine - clear and well separated - bringing you close. It's a "good mood" LP, suitable both for background and close listening. It was their first UK to be issued in stereo only, but the mix is truly compatible and pushing the mono button hardly makes any difference. First US on Parrot (PAS 71042). Early UK with label as shown here, some with matt wide-spine fold/out cover and some with laminated f/o.(SÄVX*)
