JOHN MAYALL WITH ERIC CLAPTON/BUESBREAKERS LK4804 (-66) UK MONO

A true sixties classic. This record was the first to define the European "White Blues" concept and Claptons playing have inspired many guitarist since (in fact just because of this album Gibson built a replica of the guitar Clapton used, called the "Blues Breaker" or "Beano" Les Paul) . The group also features John McVie on base, the man who later became the "Mac" in Fleetwood Mac. Produced by Mike Vernon and originally issued in mono only in UK - a true stereo version there did not show up until 1969 (SKL 4804 - first press copies can be found on the "un-boxed" label). Released in USA -66 in mono on LONDON (LL3492) and stereo -67 (PS492). The US mix was true stereo and the same one Decca released in UK two years later https://monolover.blogspot.com/2017/02/john-mayall-with-eric.html . (Thank you Prof. Stoned for information about US issue. More on this in comment below.)First UK with ridged label as shown here and laminated cover. (MÄH*)

  1. Orig. US stereo (released early 1967) is a true stereo mix and the same one that was later used in the UK.
According to Hoffman, who claims to have seen the stereo tapebox, it was mixed on Sept 14, 1966. But whether this is factual, I couldn't say.
