One should think releasing a brand new stereo mix for an album that's only been available in mono domestically for four years would be something to boost about on covers and in ads. Unlike many other countries England did not originally release a fake or true stereo version of this album, but held on to their mono press only. Then, when for the first time, a true stereo mix was issued in UK, with much better audio than the original mono, they hid it as much as they could - releasing it on the "Back Track" budget serie for £1, topping with a mono label and finally printing "MONO" with big letters on the reverse cover. But don't be fooled - this is stereo and it's a good one. (XXÖ*) (JHÄ*)(TRÄC*)

Thanks...great post that was. Hoffman has so much threads it's impossible to find'em all without being pointed. (I'm starting to long for retirement to get proper time for all this :) With "Track" it is important also to check label quality - "matt" being first up to 1973-74 and then glossy till the end. Also font type is changing through the years.
