ROLLING STONES/BEGGARS BANQUET LK 4955 - SKL 4955 (-68) UK MONO VS. STEREO

One of the last from UK Decca with some kind of separate mix. "Sympathy For The Devil" here is the '45 version, somewhat faster than the stereo with longer fading. Comparison with UK 1:st press stereo (the mono button pressed) tells the balance on a few other tracks alter paltrily and mono in some places comes out as a tiny bit darker and louder. That don't have to mean separate mixes but can be explained by differences in EQ or engraving. Steve Hoffmans Music forum has an interesting thread on this http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/archive/index.php/t-154854.html Check that for further information. To my ears the mono sounds better than the stereo - bigger and more dynamic...more rock'n'roll. Very first UK had "Patents Pending" bottom right on back cover, omitted from all later presses.
