I don't know of any label changing design as often as UK MCA. For exemple there was a new look for each initial press of the first four Wishbone Ash albums, changing in colouring or mode. Showing here is the first issue of the debute and I will also post more exemples in the future. The album itself is a killer and one of the best debutes ever. Experimental progressive blues and boogie with top melodies, performed with two lead guitars and perfect backing. It's tight, rough and sensitive at the same time and although there have been many contendants in the genre through the years this is still top of the class. Produced by Derek Lawrence who initially was tought by Joe Meek and in the sixties worked with Jethro Tull, Deep Purple and Pretty Things among others. On the cover is also mentioned an executive producer for USA, Don Shain. Don't know exactly what that means - if the issues mixes differ or it just has to do with legal obligations. I just stumbled upon an exceptionally clean copy of this LP yesterday (early UK with black matte). So, in actuality this was the first pressing? Popsike doesn't give a clear indication. Good album and it has that typical Martin Birch/De Lane Lea sound.
SvaraRaderaYes I'm pretty certain this is the first press. If You look at The Cake album mono having the late sixties design, this is the same although the colors differ. Also the second album originally had the same design, but with brown/pink coloring. As far as I know the third originally came with a blue label, but different design to the ones of the late seventies. I'm not 100%, but I think first originally released with the black label was "Wishbone Four".
