CHRIS FARLOWE REG 2025 (-68) UK EXPORT
Have to do one more post on Chris Farlowe, the most underestimated UK singer. Very productive and performed through shifting styles and arragements, always with that powerful voice, yet never got a real breakthrough. Later along with Colosseum he also showed his ability for prog, jazz and even yodeling. Also incredibly secure as a live performer - just listen to "Skellington" on the "Colloseum Live" album from the early seventies and you know what I mean. The issue shown here is consisting of tracks he recorded for Immediate 1966, but released two years later on EMI Regal label as export only. A few of them are '45 tracks and some can be found on the "14 Things To Think About" LP. It is an exclusive issue, but the voice is there and the recordings are the true mono originals. Good stuff! Big fan of the two Colosseum/Farlowe albums (especially Colosseum Live). Never really bothered to check his Immediate works. What would be a good starting point (on CD)?
SvaraRaderaTheres a lot on CD with him, but never heard any of them. I like his covers of the Stones stuff most. Arrangements are rather contemporary middleoftheroad stuff, I just fancy the voice. Colosseum was the best he did, for the sixties solo I think the later stuff is better.
