It doesn't differ much in style from their other sixties LP:s - raw and direct with live feeling and top audio making it impossible to sit still. The title song was already on their debute "Shotgun", but proved so successful as a single the label used it to promote this too. That probably wasn't needed since the whole album has about the same strength and the follow-up single from it - "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)" - sold even better initially. However "Road Runner" is a killer on the dance floor and today regarded as a classic. The mono reproduction here is so wide, clear and powerful I don't understand why they bothered to make a (more timid) stereo at all. Premiere US on Soul label (SS/SM 703).
