THE BEATLES/SGT PEPPERS LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND MAS 2653 (-67) US MONO

Of all existing variations for this all time classic the UK mono has always been considered the most collectible and for some reason also rare. Certainly scarcer today, but as tons were pressed also for export to other markets it was one of the more common back then. On the other hand this US mono almost never showed up in my neck of the wood and was thus regarded a lot more collectable here. The seldom seen US rainbow label and hard wide-spine cover then became an ojbect of acquisitive and envy. Not that it's much difference between the issues otherwise - US vinyl surface has visible gaps between the tracks and they also omitted the inner groove "chat" at the end of side two - apart from that made from the same tapes and sounding about the same. From meticulous comparison I do get the UK a bit louder and clearer, but not by much. The UK is still more sought after and sold for bigger bucks, but if you haven't got it yet and need a more priceworthy alternative this is also high class all the way. (BÄ*) (YZÄ*) (ÖXCÅ*) (LGÅ*)
