BEATLES/HEY JUDE BTL 1009 (-70) MONO BRAZIL

Since this isn't a fold down from the stereo but have all the original '45 mixes, I think it's worth a lot more attention and a repost. When it comes to sixties recordings I'm a purist. By todays measure the studios back then were primitive. Recordings mostly done on four channels and there wasn't room for excessive overdubbing or too many re-takes. So the takes often sprung from the moment and the ready versions came out of an equal collaboration between artist, producer and engineer. That's the reason I dislike most re-makes. If you change anything the moment is gone and a piece of music history lost. So even if the new stereo mixes for this album were good it's still changing history. This is one of my most cherished Beatles issues. For some reason E.M.I. Brazil didn't make a reduction of the stereo for the mono issue, as was made in Argentina and a couple of other countries, but choosed to put together their own with the initial single versions. A few exemples - "I Should Have Known Better" has the harmonica intro without the miss, "Lady Madonna" the few seconds longer piano note at the end, "Revolution" is as raw and dirty as it should with louder guitar, "Hey Jude" is the slightly longer version and "Ballad Of John And Yoko" has the loud drum beat at the end. The "Ballad..."/"Old Brown Shoe" '45 was mixed in stereo and issued as such in some countries, but I guess the ones on here are from the domestic mono single. The audio is perfect - very natural, big and clear - without traces of further limiting or compression. Highly recommended to all Beatles lovers - this is the true "Hey Jude" album. First release on thick vinyl had label as shown here in the then common Brazilian cover design, with sheets contained in a plastic shell, and glossy black inner.
