FLEETWOOD MAC/GREATEST HITS S 69011 (-71) UK

For me Fleetwood Mac is about the Peter Green years. I don't get the later stuff, find it too mainstream and flat. Up to his departure 1970 it was blues all over. Even if not all were traditional twelve bar or strict covering of the legends, the feeling was always there. This is an essential collection of numbers. It has four tracks in common with the earlier Blue Horizon compilation "Pious Bird Of Good Omen" and the '45 track "Dragonfly" was made after Green quit, but here's also the best songs he made, some for the first time on UK LP. "Man Of The World", "The Green Manalishi" and "Oh Well" are icons - melodic, honest and bursting with feelings - and when coupled with "Black Magic Woman", "Rattlesnake Shake" and "Albatross" it makes this one of the best issues with the group. As far as I know only issued in UK. Very first press with label in deep orange color. This is the second having a more brownish nuance, all later on "two-tone". Cover is matt fold/out. (PÖP*)(FXÄC*)
