PINK FLOYD/THE PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN SX 6157 (-67) UK MONO

So much has been written about this on the net already - the making, the mixes and differences to the US version - there's not much I can add. I do find this mono very intriguing. It gives a different impression than the stereo. While the two channel mix is more psychedelic and somewhat smoother, this is like visions of hell. It's louder and more direct - almost overwhelming. There are big or small differences on many tracks, the most obvious - an organ at the beginning of "Interstellar Overdrive" totally missing on the stereo. There is a rumour this mix was done under direct supervision of Syd Barrett. I don't know, but it would sure make sense. Early UK with label as shown here and laminated flip/back cover.
