THE ALAN BOWN !/OUTWARD BOWN CUBLM 1 (-68) UK MONO

After many different settings from 1963 and on the group got to record theit first album 1968. To my taste a UK psych masterpiece with great melodies, playful lyrics and lots of good organ. It is said their rather harsh cover of Dylans "All Along the Watchtower" on this LP inspired Jimi Hendrix to his version. It's possible but I don't think they sound very much alike. There were a top crew in the studio - Mike Hurst produced and Eddie Kramer and Terry Brown engineered - together responsible for recordings with at least a hundred of the most known UK and US artists from the sixties and seventies. This comes through as a dedicated mono mix - big and bold with good balance. Issued in US on Verve Forecast as stereo only with different cover(FTS-3062). First UK with label as shown here, thick unflexible vinyl and laminated flip/back cover. (YMÖ*)
