FOUR TOPS/YESTERDAYS DREAMS TML 11087 (-68) UK MONO

One of the groups that helped to define the Motown sound. Had loads of hits and best selling albums in the sixties, all Holland-Dozier-Holland compositions. Around 1967 they also started to record more mainstream pop numbers as a few on this LP, like "Daydream Believer" and "By the Time I Get To Phoenix". By now H-D-H had left Motown and this is Four Tops first album not produced by them. I don't think this is anyway near "Reach Out" wich was a straight forward hit collection. This has a few good tracks, but I find most of it boring. It's radio friendly indeed wich probably is the reason they made a separate mono mix. The US issue (MM669) is regarded as Motown labels last commercially released mono. (TÖMÖ*)(FÖRH*)
