My favorite Vanilla Fudge album. Here most of the songs are self penned and suddenly the grandiloquent arrangements fits like a glove. The two side-openings - "The Sky Cried - When I Was a Boy" and "The Spell That Comes After" - are very emotional and the music and production really carries that. And if there was one song fit for covering in this manner it was Donovans "Season Of the Witch" - the version here rather enhance than cover up. It is a pity this mono is a simple fold down. Apparently the stereo wasn't compatible, so rather than enjoyable music you get a mess. A few of the calmer tracks plays OK, but for this I truly recommend the stereo.
