REFLECTIONS OF THE MARMALADE LK 5047 (-70) UK MONO
After the million selling cover of "Ob-la-di-ob-la-da", the group signed to Decca 1970. They had felt restrained by CBS, but was now promised more freedom to write and produce by the new label. Back then I had really hoped for more like "Man In A Shop" or "I See The Rain", but was disappointed. The Decca LP did contain their biggest world wide hit - "Reflections Of My Life" - and further one good psych number - "Kaleidoscope", but apart from that is was all the same, a few nice covers and some radio-friendly ballads. It sold nicely, but was not the masterpiece I had hoped for. This mono version is a fold down of the compatible stereo. Sounds nice but nothing special. First US on London (PS 575)with different wrapping. Premiere UK with label as shown here and laminated cover. (UKÖ*) (YMÖ*) (MYK*)
