PINK FLOYD/A SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS SX 6258 (-68) UK MONO
Recorded at the same time Syd Barrett was phased out of the group. He's only represented with one song - "Jugband Blues" - and plays guitar on the title track, but becoming too much of a madcap by then to partcipate more. This follow up is almost as good as the debute. While that can be described as garage psych, this is more elegant but still magic. The mono is a separate mix with lots of differences to the stereo. Above all it's stronger and clearer and you don't have to put up with the music sliding from one speaker to another on some tracks. First press with label as shown here and laminated flip/back cover. Syd Barrett doesn't play guitar on the title track - he isn't on it at all. He is on Remember A Day, Set the Controls and, like you write, Jugband Blues. The rest has Gilmour.

SvaraRaderaInteresting. Through the years I've seen very different facts about what he's doing or not on the record. Never been 100% sure on anything, but it would be nice to know where You that info from. Maybe the final truth :)

Final truth, I don't know, but here's what I understand to be true:
SvaraRaderaREMEMBER A DAY - Syd plays slide guitar (so say manager Andrew King and, I think, Barrett himself);
SET THE CONTROLS... - Syd plays on this, and Gilmour overdubbed some guitar later on (says Gilmour);
CORPORAL CLEGG - Syd, by his own admission, does not play on this;
A SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS - was recorded after Syd had left PF;
LET THRE BE MORE LIGHT and SEE SAW - recorded days before Syd's final concert with PF. There is a very slight chance he is on it, but probably not.
JUGBAND BLUES - obviously, Syd is on it!
Highly recommended reading: David Parker's excellent 'Random Precision: recording the music of Syd Barrett 1965-1974'.
Thanks a million Sytze!
RaderaFirst exhaustive description I've seen so far. I'll go to the library and order Parker's book tomorrow.
